How Do I Download a Video from Facebook Messenger to My Computer?
To download a video from Facebook messenger to your Mac or Windows PC, just double tap on the video you want to save and open it in the full screen.
Check in the top right side; two options, “Download” and “Forward” will show. Just click on “Download” to save the video on your computer.
You can see the downloaded video in the folder where you save your downloads by default.
How to Save a Video from Facebook Messenger to Phone?
To download a video from FB messenger to your Android or iPhone cameral roll, follow the below steps –
Using an iPhone
Tap and hold the video for a second; three options will show “Reply,” “Forward,” and “More…” at the bottom of your phone screen.
Select “More…” and click on the “Save” option. Once the video is downloaded into your iPhone video gallery, a message “Saved” will pop up on the screen and disappear instantly.
Done, this is how you can download videos from Facebook messenger on iPhone.

Using an Android Mobile
Tap and hold the video you want to save; four options will show, including emoji, “Reply,” “Save Video,” “Forward,” and “Remove.”
Select Save Video, and Facebook will ask for permission to access your photos and videos, click on Allow, and the video will be downloaded into your photo/video gallery.

Pro Tip for Mobile Users
To download an old video that you received a few months back in your FB messenger, you probably need to scroll through lots of chats. To avoid this hassle, click on the “info (i)” icon showing in the top right side of your chat box and select View Photos & Videos.
It will filter the text messages and show you only photos and videos you received from that particular recipient. Next, select the video you want to save and follow the above steps to download it into your phone video gallery.
Well, the above mentioned tips will surely work for both PC and mobile users.
However, there are few other methods to grab the video from a file from Facebook messenger to your computer. I don’t recommend to use below methods on mobile phones.
Alternative Methods to Download Facebook Messenger Videos
During my research, I have seen many websites recommending to use Facebook video downloaders like fbdown.net or getfvid.com. But, honestly, I have tried all of them, and nothing worked for me. And so not recommended for you as well.
Some websites recommend downloading third-party apps like the ES File Explorer app or Documents by Readdle app for mobile users to download videos from FB messenger.
But who likes to go through an awkward way when you have the straightforward way. I’m not too fond of it, and I am sure many of you are too don’t like to download extra applications on your mobile when you have a simple way to accomplish your task.
The above methods to download a video from Facebook messenger will surely work for mobile users. There’s no doubt about it.
However, I have found one web trick that worked for me without going through any hassle. Unfortunately, it will work on computers only.
Inspect Element Trick
To download videos from Facebook messenger using an alternative method on your computer, just double-tap on the video to play it on the full screen, right-click on it and select inspect element, find the video URL, and as you click to open it in new tab option video will start downloading automatically in your computer.
